Family Care vs Cisco

August 15, 2018

Summary from Family Care’s perspective

#1 seeded Family Care faced off against #4 seeded Cisco on Wednesday night in the 2nd game of a double header for both teams. Family Care was again down to just 2 female players, which meant they could only have 9 fielders during the game and had to take an automatic out every 12th batter, starting the semi-finals at a significant disadvantage. Despite the handicap, Family Care jumped out to a 3-0 lead after the first and never looked back, taking the game by a score of 11 to 3.

To the highlights!

  • Greg pitched a great game, giving up only 3 runs while striking out 2 batters on the night and going 1-for-2 with a run scored at the plate.
  • With no outs, the bases loaded, and Cisco down by 5 runs in the Top of the 6th inning, Travis made a game-saving catch to rob a grand slam by Cisco at the fence. Cisco scored a single run on the sacrifice fly, but the next two batters were put out to keep the rally to just one run scored. A different outcome on that catch would’ve completely changed the game.
  • Nic went 3-for-3 with a double, triple, and an RBI.
  • The Dans went 3-for-5 with 3 runs, 2 RBIs, and 1 walk. Which Dan did what? It doesn’t matter! The Dans are unstoppable.
  • Miranda had some of the best outs of the night, hitting the ball extremely well in every at-bat.
  • Ryan went 3-for-3 with 4 RBIs, 2 Triples, and a double.
  • Rob hit a big 2-RBI triple in the 5th inning to finally put the game out of reach and secure the victory.
  • Ivy showed true dedication and finally showed up with her busted bumper and broken headlight as the teams were shaking hands at the end of the game. At least you’re alright, Ivy!

Game Ball: To Travis. He made the biggest play of the night on defense, by far. Allowing that home run would’ve turned the game around for Cisco and given them the momentum they needed at that point to mount a solid come back. Putting that momentum back on our side proved to be too much and saved the game for Family Care.

Next Game: Wednesday, August 22 vs. The Tailgators. FOR THE CHAMPIONSHIP!
